St. Pauls - Scotforth, Lancaster

St Paul's Church in Scotforth - Lancaster (seen from the rear... in the snow!)Designed and built by Edmund Sharpe in the mid 1870's, St Paul's C of E is one of Lancaster's most iconic buildings.  Located on Scotforth road (A6) the building has a striking frontage with a curved base and a triangular roof upon the steeple tower.  Closer inspection reveals one architectural delight after another, with circular windows, a highly decorated alter and large ornate brick arches and columns within.  The famed architectural scholar Sir Nikolaus Pevsner described it as a "strange building with an anachronism almost beyond belief."  You don't need to be a scholar to see strong roman influences in the design, and despite its age, the church feels very modern, and photographically its a real treat!  If you want your wedding in Lancaster but don't know which church to go for, this one certainly gets my vote!

St. Mary of the Angels - Bolton-le-Sands

The beautiful alter inside St Mary of the Angels, Bolton-le-SandsDating back to the 1880's, the Roman Catholic church of St Mary of the Angels is situated in the heart of Bolton-le-Sands.  Among its delicate and detailed features are an incredibly beautiful carved alter and a raised choir stall at the rear of the building.  It makes for a quaint and intimate wedding venue, and what it lacks in grounds it certainly makes up for in character!

Chocolate Fountain Hire in Lancaster & Morecambe

Madam Chocolat - Chocolate Fountian HireFew things draw a crowd at a wedding reception like a Chocolate Fountain!  The smell alone is fantastic!  The lovely people at Madam Chocolat are something special in the world of Chocolate Fountain Hire, they bake!

I was blown away by their mini chocolate brownies (I was treated to three on one skewer!) which were all 'home made' and not just cut up out of a packet.  They were delicious even before they were smothered in warm liquid chocolate.  The selection and combinations of chocolate covered treats was fantastic, they had everything from mini meringues, strawberries, donuts, flapjacks and not just 'some fruit' but a colourful and exotic tropical fruit platter!  Very impressive, very tasty stuff!  Nom nom!
